COMPANY BACKGROUND
FunVue is an amusement park companion app designed to increase the visitor’s park experience beyond the rides. With FunVue, you can build a personal itinerary prior to arriving at the park and map out your day with the fastest routes to each ride and restaurant. You can view up to the minute wait times for rides, order food online, and purchase tickets all through the app. FunVue is independent from each individual amusement park corporation. Because of this, they can offer exclusive deals and tips you may not find in a typical branded app. Finally, it is designed to work at any amusement park in the world. Based on-location services, it can determine where you are and update the app with the deals, rides, restaurants and wait times for the specific park.
Stylistic directions & Branding
Futuristic flow
Synonymous with similar concepts, I felt the bright color palette of blues, purples, and pinks was appropriate for this direction. The sharp angles of the icons and logo represent a typical futuristic essence and reinforce the original idea. The logo is meant to represent the “vue” in FunVue. Using a representational eye emphasizes that the app is about improving the experience by simplifying your day at the park through the use of the app.
Contemporary psychedelic
This concept, derived from a 1970’s style reduces the saturation of classic period colors to reflect a contemporary look. Again using the eye as representation, this logo offers a more literal take on FunVue by replacing the pupil with a Ferris wheel. The logo is capped off with a “groovy” display font to complete the look.
Nostalgic technology
Perhaps more of a specific stylistic look, this concept is designed to mimic nostalgic technology such as old Windows command prompts and The Matrix. The primarily bright green and black are synonymous with these stylistic directions. The logo offers a more abstract approach to the eye, representing a retinal scan to reinforce the idea of technology.
Interface design
Futuristic flow screens
Featuring subtle gradients and a widget-based layout, the interface represents the direction that app design is headed based on similar concepts.
The dashboard screen features everything you need to plan out your ideal day at the park.
With the rides & wait times screen, you can view up to the minute ride wait times and add them to your itinerary.
Contemporary Psychedelic Screens
These screens feature a very common contemporary theme complete with bright colors, gradients, and sideswiping buttons featuring easy action buttons.
The dashboard once again features everything that you would need to plan your day quickly and easily.
The tickets & passes screen allows you to view and scan your current tickets as well as buy future tickets and upgrades.
Nostalgic Technology Screens
Perhaps a more stylistic interface direction for special events or specific parks, it features bright green text only visual and 8-bit typography to give a nostalgic technology feel.
The dashboard screen again gives you all the action items you need to plan your day efficiently in the form of command prompt folders.
The rides screen show wait times in the form of a progress bar and allows you to view on the map and add to your itinerary.
